FORT WHYTE ALIVE – BUFFALO CROSSING

Buffalo Crossing is a newly constructed gathering space located at the southeast corner of FortWhyte Alive, a wildlife preserve and environmental education centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Interpretive panels were designed to share the cultural significance and stories behind the vibrant star blanket, created by artist Cheryl Wirch, and its accompanying custom inlaid floor design. The space also features a buffalo hide blanket, carefully stretched and mounted by conservators at Manitoba Museum, with interpretive content exploring the laws, traditions, and practices of the buffalo hunt. Design services included assistance with exhibit design, graphic design, production oversight, working with conservation staff and overseeing instalation. 2025 [This project was produced in partnership with HTFC Planning and Design.]
