Assiniboia Residential Schools

Initiated by the Indigenous Relations Division, this exhibit represents one of the City of Winnipeg’s responses to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action. Services included art direction and graphic design for nine interpretive panels and banners telling the story of survivors’ experiences in the Assiniboia Residential School from 1958 to 1973. Working closely with the historian, art direction services were provided to organize historic content into the signage design framework. Obtaining and overseeing print and fabrication costs was also included. The banners were showcased in Winnipeg’s City Hall and in the Millennium Library in downtown Winnipeg. 2018

The work you have done…will help to share a hidden local history and help educate Winnipeggers on the legacy of residential schools. Chi meegwetch!

The easiest part of working on these interpretive projects is working with you…cannot possibly thank you enough...we are already planning our next topic.
